Embrace the Camera…Waiting for Santa…part II

So, the other day, while we were waiting for Santa to arrive…on the fire truck….we had to fill the time somehow.  And we were waiting a long time for Santa.  So, we were taking photos of each other.  It was a lot of fun. We were trying to look sad, mad…and maybe a bit scary!…..

Go embrace the camera…..

Waiting for Santa on the firetruck…..

In our town, every year, Santa comes on a firetruck and hands out candy canes.  They have been doing it since I was a little girl.  But when I was little, Santa handed out an entire box of candy!!  Not anymore.  This year, they said Santa would come on Thursday or Saturday.  So, that meant that we had to hang out and wait for him to arrive….possibly for two days.  On Thursday, after school, we started to hear the fire truck..so we ran outside and waited and waited and waited…no Santa. And it was freezing.  Tuesday was wearing my shoes and was not properly dressed.  The babies weren’t properly dressed….and did I mention it was cold!!  We went inside and waited by the window….with the babies wrapped in blankets.  We waited and waited…for what seemed like hours…finally we heard the sirens getting closer and closer…and he was on our street.  Then, right before our house, he turned the corner and was gone!!  The sirens got farther away until there were no more sirens.  So much for Santa coming on Thursday!!  So, on Saturday we waited again..all day…until it was about dark..and then he finally came!!  By then, it was so cold I didn’t even bring the babies out!!  River was so excited when he finally came!!

Embrace the Camera…Jingle Ball

Last week, I took Tuesday and Quinn to the Jingle Ball…a huge concert with about 12 bands.  It was the second year in a row that we went..but this year it was at a much larger stadium.  It was a lot of fun and incredibly loud….after going I don’t want to go to another concert for about a year…which is just about right!!  Just the experience of going with Tuesday and Quinn was great.  Taking the train and subway and spending the time together. I know the days are numbered when they won’t want to be seen at a concert with their mom…so I treasure these times!! It was a long concert and didn’t finish til about 1 in the morning.  Since there are so many artists, each one only plays a few songs.  I think next year,  it may be more fun to pick one artist and go to a whole concert.  I think the best part was the train ride home…..it was raining and hailing and we got soaking wet…and the train was filled with people from the concert.  Tuesday and Quinn did some planking..which was hilarious!

Patience…..

Patience..it is the word of the second, minute, hour, day, month.  I think it is a word that will be my mantra for a long time.  I’ve always wanted to have more patience..and I’m being forced to…immediately.  One baby required a bit of patience..and two babies require a lot of it!  For me and for them.  Being a twin means automatically learning about patience.  I only have two hands and can only change a diaper so quickly, nurse a baby for so long, rock a baby so slowly…until the next one cries and needs the same thing.  I try to hold them at the same time, nurse them at the same time, comfort them at the same time..but it never seems to quite work.  Yet, when I’m giving attention to one and the other is demanding the same attention..it is so difficult.  I am learning patience and they are learning patience.  But it isn’t easy and there are many bumps in the road.  Especially when I am so sleep deprived.  Okay, let me restate that..our whole family is learning the meaning of patience.  It is definitely an acquired skill……a sought after trait, a craft to be honed…and the more patience I have..the better mother I will be……I’m learning….I’m learning…..little by little….

Embrace the Camera….Thanksgiving…..

Over Thanksgiving, we went on a little trip to Atlantic City.  It was the perfect little getaway.  It was only an hour by train..so there was no traffic to worry about.  Who doesn’t love a train ride. We got a great hotel room…..the pool was under construction..which was a bummer.  But we had so much fun.  It was nice and relaxing!  Just perfect for the holiday! We ate, slept..(okay, I didn’t sleep much), shop, saw the ocean and walked all around.  Oh, and I was crowned Miss America while I was down there!  Go Embrace the Camera…..
